SUMMARY:Martin Luther King Jr. Parade
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate our history as Dublin GA commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. in the 30th Annual Martin Luther King\, Jr. Parade on Saturday\, January 17th at 11 AM in Downtown Dublin GA. With over 175 entries during past parades\, Dublin’s Martin Luther King\, Jr. Parade has historically been the second largest in Georgia! \nBe Part Of History\nMake history with your own float as the parade marches down Telfair Street through Downtown Dublin to the Bellevue historic district. \nThe theme for this year’s parade is: “Mission Possible II: Uniting a Nation. Building a Future. The Nonviolent Way”.  \nIn honor of Dr. King’s legacy of service through his philosophy of nonviolence\, and service to humanity\, all group leaders are encouraged to emphasize the importance of your members and their families coming out and viewing the Martin Luther King\, Jr. Parade on January 17th\, 2026\, one positive method of helping to keep Dr. King’s legacy alive. \nFor more information\, call Royce J. Hall at 478-697-1107\, Laura Irwin at 478-278-1828\, James Holder at 478-697-1366\, or Nadine Hunt at 478-697-1107 or download the participation application HERE or apply online HERE. \nDublin Connection\nOn April 17\, 1944\, the Colored Elks Clubs of Georgia held their state convention at First African Baptist Church in Dublin and sponsored an essay contest. A 15 year old student from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta delivered a speech entitled “The Negro and the Constitution.” Little did the audience realize\, they were witnessing the first public speech by Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and the start of the Civil Rights Movement. \nBe a part of history participating in the annual Oratorical Speech Contest. Contest packet and theme coming soon! \nFor more information on Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and his connection to Dublin’s First African Baptist Church\, click HERE!
