DESCRIPTION:Bring your favorite kite as the luck of the Irish blows in steady breezes for the Annual St. Patrick’s Festival Kite Flying Jamboree at Wellspring Baptist Church on Sunday\, March 9th from 3 PM to 5 PM. \nSt. Patrick’s Kite Flying Jamboree\nThis free family event fills the sky with bold swirls of color and bright laughter as kites race and swoop in the sky. Expect a visit from Lucky the Leprechaun\, adding a sprinkle of magic to the festivities!  The event is free\, but feel free to spread the good luck with a donation for refreshments. \nThe fun flies high at 1701 Springdale Road\, Dublin\, GA 31021. \nFor more information on the Kite Flying Jamboree\, call 478-272-1417. \n…and More\nFire up the weekend packed with fun at Market On Madison with Pig In the Park Friday and Saturday\, March 1st and 2nd. \nBuild up momentum for St. Patrick’s Super Saturday on March 15th! \nJazz your senses at Music & Munchies featuring Will Moseley on Super Saturday night\, March 15th. \nKeep your eye on the sky for St. Patricks Irish Balloon Festival & Glow Friday and Saturday\, March 21st and 22nd. \nFestival Beginnings\nDublin Laurens County holds Georgia’s longest St. Patrick’s Festival every March! Dublin’s original festival kicked off in 1966\, thanks to local radio personality\, Dick Killebrew\, who celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by playing Irish music and telling Irish stories and jokes. He felt the community should celebrate in honor of its Irish namesake\, and others agreed. The first festival lasted for 11 days and included a Parade and Pancake Supper which are still celebrated today. The Festival has grown and changed over the years\, and now includes six weeks of celebration.
