Though the original bank that once stood on Jackson Street and is long gone\, the Downtown Dublin Development Authority revived the celebration with the New Year’s Eve Shamrock Drop\, transforming Madison Street behind Theatre Dublin into a full-on street party as the countdown begins! \nToast to The Stars\nCelebrate New Year’s Eve with live performances by Georgia Chryslers (7:30 PM to 9:30 PM) 47 By Crow (10 PM to midnight) and as the brightly lit shamrock descends to count down the clock and ring in the new year with a bubbly toast. Reindeer soar overhead between towering pines\, while dazzling angels and classic Christmas characters keep watch over the night. As the 1970s neared its end\, the retro movie theatre began to slowly fall into disarray. Not to allow such a prominent part of Dublin GA history fall away\, in the 90’s a group of businessmen and an enthusiastic community came together to save the historic theatre from demolition with a complete renovation. In 1996\, Theatre Dublin was born as a performing arts center\, hosting arts and culture events such as the Atlanta Pops Orchestra and the annual production of The Nutcracker.

With over 175 entries during past parades\, Dublin’s Martin Luther King\, Jr. Parade has historically been the second largest in Georgia! \nBe Part Of History\nMake history with your own float as the parade marches down Telfair Street through Downtown Dublin to the Bellevue historic district. \nThe theme for this year’s parade is: “Mission Possible II: Uniting a Nation. Building a Future. The Nonviolent Way”.  \nIn honor of Dr. King’s legacy of service through his philosophy of nonviolence\, and service to humanity\, all group leaders are encouraged to emphasize the importance of your members and their families coming out and viewing the Martin Luther King\, Jr. Parade on January 17th\, 2026\, one positive method of helping to keep Dr. King’s legacy alive. \nFor more information\, call Royce J. Washington High School in Atlanta delivered a speech entitled “The Negro and the Constitution.” Little did the audience realize\, they were witnessing the first public speech by Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and the start of the Civil Rights Movement. \nBe a part of history participating in the annual Oratorical Speech Contest.
