Doors open at 6:30 PM. \nThe Storyteller\n\n\n\nProminent storyteller Donald Davis grew up in a culture of storytelling in the Southern Appalachian mountains. Listening to stories from his family provided the foundation for his talent. He began retelling his family stories as a child and started adding to stories with his own life experiences until he was repeatedly asked to “tell it again\, on purpose.” Davis has been most attracted to familial stories and those related to his roots and locality. \n\nDavis served as a United Methodist Minister for over twenty years and has authored several books and original recordings. He has also been awarded the Circle of Excellence and the Lifetime Achievement Awards from the National Storytelling Network. \nThe Dublin Page of Storytelling\nSmith’s of Dublin began hosting An Evening of Storytelling to bring arts and culture to downtown Dublin GA. Smith’s owner\, Natalie Curry\, initiated this recurring event in Dublin in 2016. Curry grew up attending an annual storytelling event organized by her mother in La Grange\, GA and wanted to bring the tradition to Dublin. \nGet Your Tickets\n\nPresented by Smith’s of Dublin as a gift to the community\, admission for An Evening of Holiday Storytelling is free\, and donations are being accepted to benefit the Salvation Army with a Salvation Army donation kettle onsite. Space is limited\, so tickets are required. From 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM\, meet 20 authors with works ranging from adult fiction and non-fiction to children’s literature covering an array of genres. Allow the authors to enrapture you with readings from their works. Engage in thoughtful discussions about writing and publishing. Purchase one or two or a dozen of the authors’ books to fall in love with. \nSome of the guest authors include… \nDr. Timothy Moss – Dr. Timothy Moss will be serving as the keynote speaker for this event. He has written many books using experience as a combat veteran\, medical practitioner and spiritual/motivational leader\, including Mental Health in Communities of Color and Clear Vision in a Dark Place: Leah’s Untold Legacy. He has also just published a children’s book\, The Secret Door of Adventures. \nAnne Lovett – Anne Lovett’s works range from romance to mystery and realistic fiction and include IBPA Gold Benjamin Franklin Award winner Snakers and Lovers and Wildwood Flower. \nTracie Provost – Tracie Provost spends her days writing academic works and fantasy novels. She is currently working on her Under the Moon Series\, fantasy novels that follow voodoo priestess and vampire\, Juliette de Grammont. \nN. A. Williams – Author of Run Rabbit Run\, N. A. Williams creates stories using fairy tales mixed with occult horror. \nFrenchy Hodges – Frenchy Hodges has published several books of poetry\, including Black Wisdom and Piece De Way Home. She organizes Dublin’s Legacy Readers Theatre\, which culminates in an annual spoken word event along with a souvenir publication. \nAnd many more… \nThis event is FREE to attend\, and light refreshments will be available. \nDublin Carnegie\nErected in 1904\, the Dublin Carnegie was Dublin’s first public library. After being listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in the 1970s\, the Carnegie served as the Laurens County Museum until 2012.
