Take in both theatrical performances in Dublin GA for FREE! \nThe Cast\nStudents from the award-winning Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy’s High School Drama Team are traveling from McDonough\, GA to Dublin\, GA under the leadership of Director Chuck Ekstedt to take the audience back in time for a theatrical double feature. \nFrom Birmingham Jail\nPLAY BEGINS AT 7 PM \nIn April 1963\, the Civil Rights Campaign in Birmingham\, Alabama was intensifying on the city’s streets as Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. sat in his jail cell\, imprisoned for participating in the nonviolent demonstrations against segregation\, composing a letter in response to criticisms of the campaign. In honor of Black History Month\, watch the recreation of a powerful piece of history that unfolded during this time of unrest. \nA Midsummer Night’s Dream\nPLAY BEGINS AT 8:30 PM \nFinish the theatrical night on a lighter note with Shakespeare’s comedic tale which includes mischievous fairies\, spells and love triangles set in a woodland scene under the light of the moon. The play consists of multiple storylines interconnected by a wedding celebration of Duke Theseus of Athens and the Amazon queen\, Hippolyta. \nTheatre Dublin\nConcessions will be available for purchase\, and all proceeds from concession sales benefit future programming at Theatre Dublin. At the age of 24\, she was already a musical veteran and after an illustrious career with the famous ensemble; she embarked on a solo career that has seen her perform all over the world.  Chloe Agnew performed at the prestigious Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and collaborated with Emmy award-winning tenor Eamonn McCrystal on his album And So It Goes in a duet with the legendary Rita Wilson. She is featured in several television shows that are currently airing on PBS including The Power of Music with Ethan Bortnick and Damian McGinty (Glee Project/Celtic Thunder)\, and the Nathan Carter Celtic Country show. DESCRIPTION:Downtown Dublin comes alive with the vivid sounds of an abridged version of Hansel and Gretel during a live performance by the Atlanta Opera in historic Theatre Dublin. Perfect for young children and children of all ages\, this abridged version of a operatic favorite combines trickery\, wishes\, love and lots of laughter!  \nHansel And Gretel\nTo celebrate its 40th year on the road\, the 2019-2020 season features a new adaptation of Humperdinck’s enchanting fairytale Hansel and Gretel where students are invited to take centerstage alongside Atlanta Opera artists. Suitable for all ages\, this Hansel and Gretel teaches valuable lessons about being polite\, making friends\, and not judging a Witch by her wardrobe. \nAtlanta Opera Workshop\nKnown throughout the region and across the nation\, the Atlanta Opera has helped foster young talent internationally. Their educational workshop series aims to spread a love for opera to children by presenting shorter versions of classic tales\, while giving singers\, directors\, and performers an opportunity to hone their skills. \nDesigned to travel\, The Atlanta Opera Studio Tour productions are presented in schools and community venues across the state of Georgia each season. Educators are provided with comprehensive Study Guides which feature cross-curricular lesson plans and activities corresponding to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. \nTickets\nEvening performance tickets for Hansel and Gretel are $20 at Theatre Dublin’s box office Monday-Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM or two hours prior to show time. Season tickets are $50 at the box office and include one ticket admission to all Dublin-Laurens Arts Council (DLAC) performances during the 2019-2020 season in addition to a 2019-2020 membership in DLAC. All students have free admission. \nConcessions will be available for purchase\, and all proceeds from concession sales benefit future programming at Theatre Dublin. All receive no academic credit but sing as a labor of love.
