Pack up your rods, reels, tackle and bait and reel in some sweet memories during Georgia Free Fishing Day at any public waters in Dublin GA, including Hugh Gillis PFA, River Bend WMA and Beaverdam WMA!

Georgia Residents Free Fishing Day

This year, Georgia offers two Free Fishing Days in honor of National Fishing  and Boating week, Saturday, June 1st and Saturday, June 8th. In addition, Georgia offers a Free Fishing Day in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day on Saturday, September 28th. Georgia residents do not need a fishing license for fishing on free fishing days on public waters. Residents can fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds, and Public Fishing Areas (PFA). Residents do not need to obtain a Wildlife Management Area (WMA) license to fish on PFA’s or WMA’s . Take this opportunity to introduce someone to the fun of fishing!

National Fishing and Hunting Day

Head to Hugh Gillis Public Fishing Area with the kiddos on September 28th from 8 AM to 12 PM for FREE outdoor fun! Bring along your fishing gear for kid’s fishing in the pavillion pond. A kids’ archery station will also be set up. Archery gear will be provided.

Laurens County

Georgia residents can fish without a fishing license at these locations in Laurens County:

Hugh Gillis Public Fishing Area, located minutes from Dublin is a 109-acre lake and 640 acres of surrounding terrain. This breathtaking spot is managed to provide excellent fishing for anglers of all ages. Major species of fish in the lake include the largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie and redear sunfish.

River Bend Wildlife Management Area is located just 0.2 miles off I-16 on Exit 58. Explore unspoiled beauty at River Bend WMA. Formed by a clear-water spring that flows up at the swamp’s edge, Troup’s Spring Lake provides ample stock of bass, bream, and other game fish. A paved boat-ramp allows easy access to the pond, as well as hiking trail access to Pugh’s Creek, which features pristine creek fishing conditions.

Experience the best stands of mature bottom-land hardwood on the Oconee River. With over 5,500 acres of untouched beauty, Beaverdam WMA offers hunting, primitive camping, fishing, a firearms shooting range, boat ramp, bird watching, and field trail access minutes from downtown Dublin.
