Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Festival began in 1966, inspired by local radio personality Dick Killebrew and his celebration of Dublin’s Irish namesake. The first festival lasted 11 days and included a parade and pancake supper…traditions that continue today.

The beloved festival is brought to life by a volunteer committee that works almost year-round to plan and coordinate the celebration. As festival season begins, committee members repaint the shamrocks in the streets throughout Downtown Dublin. Look down and you’ll see them year ’round as a reminder that St. Patrick’s spirit is always part of Dublin.

Today, the St. Patrick’s season spans several weeks and brings thousands of visitors to Dublin for parades, live music, food, arts and crafts, sports, hot air balloons, family fun and more. What began as a community celebration in 1966, has grown into the longest St. Patrick’s celebration in the Southeast, and cherished by all!
