It’s the middle of an incredible, emotional, musical evening. All the singing, dancing, walking and chatting participating in Relay For Life has us famished! And there’s still plenty of night to go. We need food. Everybody knows the most satisfying solution to being famished is pizza, of course. We agree on an amazing local spot, Peter’s Place. We load up and head to our destination.

Peter’s Place

We are greeted by the staff and owner per usual. Bellowing “hellos” and warm hugs all around. Small town perk. I love it. Settled into the booth we order…pitcher and pizza, noticing there’s a little hustle bustle this evening. It’s karaoke night and the crowd is just getting warmed up!  Perfect! More entertainment!

Food

So, the best way to counter a not so healthy meal is with salad, right? Of course! And it’s not a difficult thing to manage here at all. Locally grown, pesticide free, hydroponic, butter lettuce, red onion, olives and a light sprinkling of parmesan.  Absolutely delicious! Our pie arrives with perfect timing…we’ve made a dent in our pitcher. Steaming, cheesy, meaty, delicious pie. I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a pizza the way I’m looking at this one.

We. Were. Hungry.

First Friday

It’s time to go. Next stop. First Friday, Downtown.

The blues are already wailing through the air as we walk the sidewalk to the market. Kids running about playing on the decorative boulders lining the pathway leading to the grassy lawn, their parents relaxing, toes tapping. Sultry lights flash nonchalantly from the stage, fog wafting, gently swirling and twisting along with the whining notes. Robert Lee Coleman and The Night Owls. The blues legend Robert Lee Coleman. What an absolute treat! We spread out my blanket and settle in. I run into a couple friends that join us, we are blown away by this performance.

It’s been an amazing night. Good music, good food, reflection, great friends. A solid community.

This is Friday night.
