Meet Carl Pearson: Dublin's Unofficial Storyteller

Carl Pearson doesn’t just live in Dublin—he helps it remember.

A direct descendant of Herbert “Hub” Dudley, the entrepreneur whose businesses served the Black community through the Civil Rights era, Carl carries that legacy forward with quiet pride and steady hands. See the history.

Alongside his father and siblings, he continues to run Dudley Enterprises, including the historic Dudley Funeral Home, a cornerstone of the community since 1922.

But his work isn’t only in business—it’s in story, service, and presence. Carl narrates One Day: Dublin’s Civil Rights Experience at First African Baptist Church, guiding visitors through the city’s history with insight and care (get all the details here to add to your calendar).

He also serves on the Dublin Housing Authority board and the Dublin Black Festival Community Committee, helping the city continue to thrive while also honoring its past.

Later this spring, Carl will join Wallace Miller for the Dublin Carnegie lecture series, sharing Hub Dudley’s story—his life, his work, and the legacy that still shapes Dublin.

From the legacy of Hub Dudley to the living history of downtown, Carl Pearson is Dublin’s guide to its own story.

Start your journey at VisitDublinGA.org and join Carl to explore the city’s past, understand its present, and experience a community shaped by generations of dedication.

Miriam Lewis

Once upon a time, a serial reader of Little Women and Little House On The Prairie, Miriam Lewis has harnessed her love of great storytelling, beautiful photography, and good people, and bundled it into a big package that is Executive Director of Visit Dublin GA. As a destination veteran Miriam joined Visit Dublin GA in 2015. She oversees Dublin Visitors Center operations & staff and Dublin and Laurens County’s marketing communications while leading strategic initiatives to maintain and strengthen the tourism industry in Dublin. Her favorite work hobbies include making good old fashioned paper lists (plural), reminding staff to take their breaks (they sometimes listen), quality checking local eats (she’ll quickly suggest goat curry or tongue tacos), and building relationships which become links in partnership across the state, boosting an economic engine for the Laurens County community.
