“I am so proud to see tourism in Laurens County continue to set new records year after year. In 2024, visitor spending once again reached an all-time high, underscoring the appeal of our community. This success is not only the result of our events, marketing, and amenities, it’s because of the good people who live here and welcome every traveler with warmth and hospitality. Their pride in our community is what makes visitors feel at home and keeps them coming back. Tourism continues to strengthen our local economy, support jobs, and ease tax burdens for our residents, and we are excited to carry this momentum forward,” said Visit Dublin GA Executive Director, Miriam Lewis.
Travel demand in 2024 supported 1,230 jobs and generated $9.1M in state and local tax revenues for Laurens County. Without the state and local tax revenues generated by tourism, Laurens County taxes would cost an additional $503 per year, per household. Food and beverage was the leading category in terms of share, with $34.9 million spent, accounting for 28.7% of visitor spending, and growing by 13.4% (YOY).
“Georgia’s tourism success proves the power of partnerships,” said GDEcD Deputy Commissioner of Tourism Jay Markwalter. “Thanks to the leadership of Governor Kemp, our General Assembly, Commissioner Wilson, the Tourism Foundation Board of Directors, and the efforts of our statewide tourism industry, more visitors than ever before are choosing to spend their time and money experiencing everything that makes our state great. The local communities that bring these authentic experiences to life are a key reason why Georgia’s visitor economy continues to grow and thrive.”
