Visit Dublin GA announces a week of events for travelers and community members in Dublin GA for National Travel and Tourism Week 2026.
Dublin, Georgia April 17th, 2026 – National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is the celebration of the contributions of the tourism industry on economic growth, creating jobs, and shaping communities and falls on the week of May 3rd through May 9th in 2026. In 2024, the travel industry generated $121.4M in visitors spending, supported 1,230 jobs, and generated $9.1M in state and local tax revenues for Laurens County.
As NTTW shines a spotlight on tourism’s essential role as an economic driver, it is equally as important to highlight the major players in the industry. Tourists’ actions, from choosing destinations to booking accommodations and activities, directly influence the economic and social impacts of tourism. As a “Thank You!” to the tourists who make their way to Dublin-Laurens County, Visit Dublin GA will be hosting a few special activities at the Dublin Visitors Center throughout Travel and Tourism Week.
Another major player in the tourism industry is the hospitality industry. Hotel and restaurant workers in Dublin are the frontline when it comes to tourists’ impression of our community. They provide the services that keep people coming back for more and encourage tourists to venture deeper into Dublin. To show appreciation for local hospitality service workers, Visit Dublin GA will be hosting Good Things Happen Here (Because of YOU!), an invite only event that will include presentations from Visit Dublin GA, the Downtown Development Authority, the Dublin Laurens County Recreation Authority, Explore Georgia, and Mayor Joshua Kight.
“As the destination marketing organization for Laurens County, we focus mostly on engaging with people 50 miles and further from our area,” said Visit Dublin GA Executive Director Miriam Lewis. “National Travel and Tourism Week gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate not just the visitors who choose Dublin, but also the hospitality professionals who make their experiences exceptional.”
Visit Dublin GA’s project manager, Arilyn Erickson, emphasized that the weeklong schedule was designed to highlight both the fun and the function of tourism. “From our ribbon cutting to Tourist Appreciation Day to the Good Info Expo, every event is about connection: connecting visitors to our community, connecting residents to local resources, and connecting our partners to the people they serve.”
The week’s events include an information booth at America the Beautiful, an official Georgia US 250 event, at Theatre Dublin, a special appreciation event for hospitality workers, a ribbon cutting at the Dublin Visitors Center, giveaways for tourists, and the Good Info Expo at Market on Madison. The celebration concludes Saturday with Bubbles, Balloons & Bouquets, featuring free balloons for children and a pop-up bouquet bar just in time for Mother’s Day.
“The event we’re most excited for is the Good Info Expo,” said Erickson. Attendees of the Good Info Expo on May 8th get the opportunity to speak with city officials, art groups, local universities, and more while taking part in family friendly activities from 11 AM to 2 PM.
“Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident, we want you to feel the energy and hospitality that make Dublin special,” Lewis added. “Good things truly happen here because of the people who choose to be part of our story.”
