Craving a quiet Saturday surrounded by nature? Head just outside of Dublin to Hugh Gillis Public Fishing Area. A hidden gem for outdoor lovers and weekend wanderers alike. If you’re in Dublin on a Saturday in September, grab your fishing pole and join the celebration of National Hunting & Fishing Day. This annual event is all about connecting with nature and trying something new. Yes, fishing without a license. Whether you’re reeling in your first catch or just enjoying the stillness of the water.  Hugh Gillis offers a laid back escape that feels a world away.

When hunger strikes after a day of fun, head over to Company Supply or a neighboring restaurant for some good ol’ kid approved eats.

Hold on just a moment, don’t rush out the door yet! After a day filled with adventure and delicious bites, it’s the perfect time to indulge and treat yourself!

Swing by Rosie’s Handmade Ice Cream. Open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday from 4 PM to 9 PM. Every scoop is a swirl of happiness. With flavors that’ll make your taste buds dance and smiles that come standard, it’s the cherry on top of your Dublin adventure.

You can’t forget Williamson’s Bakery. Open Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday from 6 AM to 2 PM. Their fluffy donuts, gooey cookies, and cinnamon rolls are batter than the rest. Perfect for dunking, munching, or stashing for the ride home.

Mercedes Hill

With a strong appreciation for smooth jazz, R&B, and classic English films, Mercedes Hill has a well-rounded personality and passion for positively impacting others has made her a perfect fit for the Visitors Center Coordinator role. Originally from the small town of Adel, GA, Mercedes is confident, dedicated and excited to learn about her new forever home. As the oldest of 7 siblings and a loving mom to an adorable little boy, she is experienced in being a committed and active team member. She recently graduated from Georgia Military College with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Healthcare Management. At Visit Dublin GA, she is the friendly face that welcomes our guests, making them feel right at home during their visit. Mercedes loves meeting new people and hearing their stories. Along with entertaining our guests, her daily activities include providing informational guides and brochures catered to each individual’s needs, maintaining the gift shop, updating spreadsheets, and ensuring the Visitors Center is in tip-top shape. Mercedes is passionate about exploring Dublin and sharing her discoveries with everyone she meets. Maintaining our vegetable and pollinator gardens has given her a newfound love for gardening, which brings her profound joy and tranquility.
